We preach Christ crucified.” (1 Corinthians 1:23).
“Far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world,” wrote St. Paul in Galatians 6:14. Martin Luther once said, “The cross alone is our theology!” To the cross, to the cross, to the cross we go as we continue our Lenten journey with our “Lamb of God ... Who on the cross didst suffer” (LSB 434). And according to 1 Corinthians 1:21–25, we find eternal wisdom in the foolishness of God.
Join with Pastor on Sunday mornings at 8:55 am in the church office to strengthen your faith in this special Bible study that leads us through Lent toward Christ’s glorious Easter Resurrection.

Update on Kurt Piepenbrink’s class: The prime intent of the Book of Acts is religious. It portrays the impact of the risen and exalted Christ upon the wide world. The Christ confronts men in the inspired word of the messengers whom He Himself has chosen.
Join us in the study of the Acts of the Apostles and delight in how the Word of the Lord grows in your heart.

News and Notes, February 14, 2010
Scripture records Jesus’ deeds and is the witness of His power. These things are written that we may believe that Jesus is the Christ, Son of God (John 20:20-21).
There is no other way to know and experience the love of Jesus than through His Word. Adult Bible class helps us to draw near Jesus.
Kurt Piepenbrink’s class will be finishing the Book of Genesis in two weeks. They will be starting the Book of Acts. Join them!

News and Notes, January 10, 2010

According to a recent survey by the Barna Research Group, on why people have come to Christ and the church, the following was found to be true. People joined a church because of:
Church sermon, 13%.
Evangelistic crusade, 5%.
Invited by the pastor, 5%.
Youth camp/event, 4%.
Through the Sunday School, 4%.
Physical Healing, 5%.
Death of a relative or friend, 4%.
Invited by friend or relative, 44%.
Other, 16%.

“People don’t care what you believe if they don’t believe that you care.” The corollary is also true: “When people believe that you care, they care about what you believe!” (Winning Friends for Christ, p. 45.) Do you care?

Mark Your Calendar– Reserve January 23rd.
On Tuesday, December 15th, twelve members of Holy Trinity met in the church office. Following a delicious dinner provided by Stephanie Dinkel, Mary Jane May and JayAnn Wallace, we were introduced to Dave King, the new Director of “5 and 2.”
Pastor Burmeister and Dave King spoke of the wonderful miracles of ministry happening in the Tampa Circuit. They told us about a work¬shop planned for January 23rd, which is designed to equip us and get us excited about participating in a whole new approach to ministry.
They urged us to join with other churches of the Tampa Circuit on January 23rd, 9:00am until 3:00pm. Mr. John Riegner from Lutheran Hour Ministries will lead us in a workshop for everyday witnessing. This workshop will take place at Messiah Lutheran Church. Catch the train and put some fun into your life, while “infecting” others with the Word of Christ! If you are interested in attending the workshop, please call the church office. If you are interested in attending and cannot because you need a ride, just call the church office and we will coordinate a ride for you.

There has been quite a “buzz” about author Keith Knecht’s recently published book titled “Zahwu.” This is an adventure story of Africa; an enjoyable and fun read for all ages. We have asked Keith to provide some copies of his book in the church office. Call or come to the church office to pick up your copy; they are only $10.00 each.

A Cardio Pulmonry Resuscitation and Red Cross First Aid class will be held in the Fellowship Hall on Saturday, January 16th from 10:00am until 12:00 noon. If you are interested, please call Maxine Williams (831-6795) to sign up.
